2026 // Week 28 – Vietnam Pepper Market : Export H1 2026 With Strong Cumulative Growth

Domestic Price & H1 2026 Export Performance

Pepper price trends in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions
during the week of June 29th to July 05th, 2026

At the end of last week, pepper prices in key producing areas dropped sharply by 3,000-4,000 VND compared to the previous week, falling to only 133,000-135,000 VND/kg. However, today’s pepper prices recovered, the rebound to 136,000–138,000 VND/kg after June’s softness suggests that the market correction was temporary rather than structural. Buyers who paused during the mid-year lull appear to be re-entering, providing support for H2 pricing expectations.

Vietnam exported a total of 145,686 tons of pepper across all varieties in H1 2026, representing a 17.4% increase in volume year-over-year. The cumulative export value reached USD 940.5 million, up 10.6% compared to the same period in 2025. This dual growth in both volume and value underscores the resilience of Vietnam’s pepper sector, even amid tightening domestic supply conditions. The value-to-volume growth differential — 10.6% value growth versus 17.4% volume growth — suggests that average unit prices moderated over the period, consistent with the June price recovery noted in today’s market activity.

June alone recorded 23,103 tons valued at USD 151.3 million, down over 8% in both volume and value versus May. This cooldown reflected softening buying interest simultaneously across Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

The H1 2026 data reveals an industry that is structurally sound, geographically diversified, and led by a concentrated group of high-performing exporters. VPSA member enterprises continue to dominate, accounting for 82% of total export volume, with Phúc Sinh, Olam Vietnam, and Haprosimex JSC serving as the primary engines of trade flow. This concentration provides consistency in quality control, logistics coordination, and buyer relationships — critical advantages in a competitive global spice market.

Regional Demand Breakdown: Where Growth Came From

Asia retained its position as Vietnam’s largest pepper-consuming region in H1 2026, commanding a 45.6% market shareof total exports. The standout story within Asia was China’s remarkable 64% surge in import volumes, alongside accelerating demand from Thailand and the UAE. This concentration in Asia reflects both geographic proximity and the region’s growing appetite for Vietnamese pepper in food processing and culinary applications. The Americas followed as the second-fastest-growing region, posting over 31% growth driven primarily by robust US demand, while Europe contributed 30,929 tons, strongly propelled by the Netherlands.

🌏 Asia — 45.6% Market Share

Asia’s dominance was reinforced by China’s extraordinary 64% volume surge, making it the single most dynamic market in H1 2026. Thailand and the UAE also accelerated their purchasing, contributing to the region’s overall strength. The breadth of Asian demand — spanning East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East — provides a diversified base that cushions against slowdowns in any single market.

🌎 Americas — 31%+ Growth

The Americas posted the strongest percentage growth among major regions, driven overwhelmingly by US demand. This acceleration reflects growing consumer awareness of Vietnamese pepper quality and increasing incorporation into foodservice and retail channels across North and South America.

🌍 Europe — 30,929 Tons

Europe remained a bright spot throughout H1, with the Netherlands and Germany leading demand. Even as June saw broad softening elsewhere, Europe’s 16.7% YoY growth held firm, underscoring the region’s structural demand for Vietnamese pepper in food manufacturing and retail.
